1MDB case: the whistleblower asks to be protected by the Swiss authorities

The whistleblower in the 1MDB affair asked the federal authorities for protection during his stays in Switzerland, we have learned Time. Xavier Justo fears reprisals because of the role he played in this case of fraud against the Malaysian sovereign fund, stripped of 4.5 billion dollars at the turn of the 2010s. Competent for questions of witness protection in this file, the Federal Criminal Court (TPF) responded to him by describing the measures that the authorities can take for his security, without committing at this stage.

It was a feeling of “deep concern and great apprehension” regarding his safety and that of his family that recently led Xavier Justo to contact the Federal Prosecutor’s Office (MPC) and the Federal Criminal Court, according to documents that Time was able to consult. The man says he fears retaliatory measures which would aim to “silence” or “punish” him for having largely participated in the revelation of this global fraud. Risk which is formally contested by the other actors in this affair.
