It has been open since 5 mars and already, the financial difficulties are felt. The Time Out Space café is “in danger”, warns Sabrina Monnier, co-manager of this unusual place of Rennes, reserved for manga-video games.

This café, dedicated to pop culture and located at 32, rue Poullain-Duparc, does not wish to close and is calling for generosity of Rennaises and Rennais, but also and above all, “to a physical presence in order to increase your attendance » .

“Time Out Space is the first café with a “pop culture” concept in Rennes since it offers a wide variety of media, video games, manga among others,” explains Sabrina Monnier.

This meeting place organizes various events such as Pokémon card tournaments, K-pop evenings or even themed karaoke.

These events are organized daily hand in hand with various associations such as Pokebreizhtrainers, Koreabreizh, Morioshow, Breizhteamcosplay.

“It even happens that through these events, new friendships are created, encouraged by shared common interests,” she continues.

If enthusiasts or neophytes abound in the café on Saturday and Sunday; the rest of the week, customers dry up.

Unfortunately, the weekend does not compensate as the charges are high.

What has also put the café in difficulty is “the quarterly payment of rent which is required”.

We currently have the equivalent of two months of debt rent, i.e. 4,200 euros, we have meanwhile learned that from December we are also supposed to pay the property tax for the premises which amounts to 2,100 euros as well as 800 euros in arrears. co-ownership fees.

The coffee is therefore “in the red”.

“Less than a month to get things back on track”

Sabrina and Judicaël, the tandem of managers, nevertheless retain a little glimmer of hope. They have “less than a month to turn things around” before closing for good.

Simply put, to save our business from the precipice, we need a true Christmas miracle, nothing more and nothing less…

To help the coffee get its head above water, an online prize pool was therefore open. At the time of writing, 1,165.70 euros have already been collected. The duo hopes to raise 15 000 euros to “rebound on solid foundations”.

But beyond the financial aspect, “ any campaign sharing et any presence at the café are valuable means to support (us), assures Sabrina Monnier.
