1st day of Betclic ELITE late and the JDA took to the floor of Cholet Basket, leader of the championship after 11 days. An important match for both teams: Cholet had the idea of starting again with a positive dynamic after the enormous setback against JL Bourg (-35), while JDA Bourgogne Dijon had to attempt the feat, at outside, to exit the red zone.
1st half: After a slight delay in starting, the JDA takes the lead at the break (55-57)
Complicated start to the match for Markis McDuffie and the Dijon players who showed excitement in the first actions against a Cholet Basket perfectly in place (14-7 / 5′). On the Dijon side, it is the interior duo Christian – Gavin who tries to hold the house but, overwhelmed by the iron defense of the Choletais, Laurent Legname’s men are already at -12 (21-9 / 8′). It will take a determined Axel Julien to see the JDA get back to 6 units after 10 minutes (25-19). After Axel, it’s Captain DCash who puts on a show in scoring! The Burgundian elf, well supported by a skillful Jean-Philippe Dally from afar, allows the JDA to take the advantage for the first time in the match (30-32 / 13′). A short-lived advantage: after the opponents’ time-out, the CB will pass a 9-0 to the Burgundians to move forward. Hyper-effective in attack, Stefan Smith allows Cholet to resist the return of the JDA, pushed by a David – Robin on fire duo from afar (43-41 / 37′). At the break and after leading a hell of a run, Dijon took the lead (55-57).
2nd half: A fight from both teams… but Cholet wins (95-89)
Back from the locker room, it was Cholet Basket who struck first, immediately taking the lead. The boss Sengfelder watches over the Dijon racket and allows his team not to sink in the face of the impact of Bastien Vautier in the paint (57-55 / 24′). The match is stifling and the two teams do not lower the intensity for a single second. After leading for a few moments, the Dijon players are now chasing the score (71-70 / 30′). There are only 10 minutes left to reverse the situation and create the feat on the leader’s floor. Unfortunately, it is the CB which resumes its march forward and gains a 5 unit lead (78-73 / 34′). Despite all the efforts of Gregor Hrovat (16pts) and Axel Julien (15pts), the step was too high for the JDA this evening. Laurent Legname’s team did not achieve the feat on the floor as the leader.
