Politics: François Bayrou arrives at the top

Last Friday, after much negotiation, François Bayrou became the new prime minister, after the censorship of the Barnier government on Wednesday December 4.

Since June 9, the boat has been going down the drain, following the example of the dissolution of the government announced that same day. Since then, the political and democratic divide has continued to widen between the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, and the French. The latter completely ignored the vote of voters during the last legislative elections, seeing the left alliance coming in first. On the contrary, he successively appointed two prime ministers, well anchored to the right, from two minority parties in the national assembly, LR and Modem: Michel Barnier and François Bayrou. Moreover, François Bayrou is not a novice in politics since he was a candidate three times during the presidential elections, in 2002, 2007 and 2012. Above all, he is an early ally of Emmanuel Macron, from 2017, allowing him to win the presidency of Emmanuel Macron in 2017, allowing him to win the presidency of the Republic that same year. Focus on this centrist from the start.

François Bayrou, a centrist through and through

Coming from the French right, notably the UDF, a party that young people under 20 know little or nothing about, it was under the era of the late Valéry Giscard d’Estaing that Bayrou made his first weapons. But it is especially with Simone Veil that he will work the most but she is not rave about the native of Béarn. Between 1993 and 1997, Bayrou was a minister under three successive governments combining strategy and maneuverability. From 2002, François Bayrou created his own political party: Le Modem. This party is behind the 2007 presidential election, which will allow Nicolas Sarkozy to win the vote. In 2012, he supported François Hollande. Finally, in 2017, he brings his Emmanuel Macron.

Skilled in politics, and seeing the tide turn quite quickly, François Bayrou knew how to lead his boat alone and very intelligently. Except that in 2017, two months after his appointment to the government, as Keeper of the Seals, he was caught up in past affairs. He was therefore forced to resign fairly quickly because he had declared that “politicians must be exemplary”. 2024 is the year of the great comeback. This being said, he arrives at the helm at a troubled period in the Fifth Republic, between doubts and mistrust of the French, worried about the economic and political situation of the country. For at least six months, he will have the role of firefighter trying to put out the fire in the street or at the polls. He is making up for it this year, by seizing the opportunity offered to him by Emmanuel Macron. He will have to reassure the French for at least six months. An answer should come out quickly, either in the streets or in the ballot boxes, to be continued…
