“The victim, who was under the bus, was urgently transported to a hospital center when there was fear for his life,” said Raphaël Chelma, spokesperson for Urgence-Santé, early in the evening.
It was only once at the hospital that the woman’s death was noted, informed Mariane Allaire Morin, spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM).
No other people were injured in the accident.
A call was made to 911 around 4:20 p.m. to emergency services when the collision occurred on Boulevard Henri-Bourassa Est, near Boulevard Lacordaire, in the borough of Montréal-Nord.
According to initial information, the victim was crossing Henri-Bourassa Boulevard in the north direction at the same time as the bus was traveling in the west direction, on the same boulevard, mentioned the SPVM agent.

The scene is currently protected and investigators are dispatched to the site to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the event.
The SPVM asks citizens to avoid the area.
This is the second fatal collision linked to a pedestrian and an STM vehicle to occur in Montreal in the last two months.
In October, an 18-year-old boy, Zachary Laferté-Landry, was also fatally struck while leaving his cinema history course at the Cégep du Vieux Montréal by an STM bus.
