The Gothics of Amiens U20 Espoir have alternated between good and bad in recent times. A mixed result similar to that of the U18s, who lost in overtime.
If the U20 Espoir had a renewed energy against Angers, the reigning French champion, on November 17, they did not manage to confirm against Grenoble in the following match. Faced with opponents more within their reach, the Strasbourg side, the young people from the AHE put in a serious performance. Gaspard Vanwormhoudt, who collects a puck from behind his own goal at the start of the game, crosses the ice, shoots, collects his own rebound then scores (0-1 : 00’45). Ugo Tocquin imitates him to close the first period (2-0 : 08’17). Jill Baillet gives her team a three-goal lead to start the middle period well (0-3 : 21’49) before the locals respond (1-3 : 32’55). Finally, to end the match well, the Samarians scored four goals to win 1-7.
With full of confidence, the U20s then begin a trip to Cergy-Pontoise for the 8th day of the championship. The Jokers are the first to open the scoring, in a first third which ends on the smallest of margins (1-0). Gaspard Vanwormhoudt, like the previous match, finds the back of the net (1-1 : 20’57). This equalization has the effect of motivating the Ile-de-France troops, who find the fault four times before the final whistle (5-1). The good and the less good which classify the training 9th place in the ranking, out of 11 teams.
An unfortunate extension for the U18s
For the U18 Espoir, who alternate between good and bad results, the meeting on Wednesday December 4 was very balanced. In the first twenty minutes, the two teams scored a goal (1-1), while in the second half, the Caennais, opponents of the Amiens, take the lead (3-2). In the first quarter of an hour of the last act, both teams were effective offensively, bringing the score to 4-5. Shortly before the end of regulation time, the Drakkars equalized, pushing the match into overtime. In this exercise, the locals show themselves better and emerge victorious (6-5). Despite the extension being snatched, the Amiens still rank penultimate in the championship.
Non-match in U20B
In the French U20 championship, the Gothiques suffered the law of the Comètes de Meudon. Yet only led by one goal at the first break (2-1), the Amiens gradually sank, losing the next third 3-1 then 5-1. Final score: 10-3. The squad has only three points so far, after five games played.
