MEAUX: Yves CAZARD, CEO of FORX: “Automation opens new horizons for SMEs”

Automation opens new horizons for SMEs.

French industrial SMEs are facing intense international competitionparticularly from Eastern countries, which benefit much lower production costs. According to an INSEE study from October 2024, 81% of French companies use European subcontractors, followed by China (17%) and Africa (15%).. In this context, the automation of industrial processes appears to be an essential solution to guarantee their survival and competitiveness.

Automation represents a major strategic lever for SMEs. It offers productivity gains, reduces production costs by reducing dependence on labor, and allows for better manufacturing quality. Automated machines are also more flexible, adapting quickly to changing demands. Automation thus opens new horizons for SMEs, facilitating their access to international markets.

However, this transformation presents significant challenges:

1. High initial cost : Upfront investments for automation can be prohibitive for cash-constrained SMEs.

2. Specific skills : The skills needed to implement and manage automated systems are often rare and expensive.

3. Resistance to change : The transition to automation may encounter internal resistance, with employees sometimes reluctant to adopt new technologies

Systematization through automation is a necessity for small and medium-sized French manufacturers in order to survive and develop in a globalized world. However, this transformation requires a clear strategy in order to find a viable economic model to ensure the growth of the company and adequate training of employees. By overcoming these challenges, SMEs can reap the benefits of automation and strengthen their competitiveness in the global market.

Yves Cazard, PDG de Forx, the first 100% French autonomous stacker designed and designed to meet the challenges of logistics problems for companies of all sizes, is available to discuss in more detail the challenges and opportunities related to automation for French industrial SMEs.
