Commander Raphaël Villermet is the new commander of the stealthy light frigate (FLF) Guépratte. The change of command, chaired by Vice-Admiral Pierre de Briançon, Chief of Staff of the Naval Action Force, took place on Monday, December 16 in Toulon, on the helicopter platform of the said frigate.
The Guépratte is a ship that Commander Villermet knows well. In 2010, in fact, he had already been assigned there and participated in anti-piracy missions in the Indian Ocean, then in Operation Harmattan in Libya. From 2014 to 2018, it will find an FLF frigate – in this case the La Fayette – on board which he will serve as head of the weapons department, deputy operations commander and maneuvering officer. A long assignment during which Commander Villermet notably participated in NATO missions, the Chammal mission in the Mediterranean, or even missions to fight against trafficking and piracy in the Indian Ocean.
Coming from the Maistrance School, before joining the Naval School in 2006, Commander Villermet experienced many other embarkations before, therefore, taking command of the Guépratte. From the anti-aircraft frigate Jean Bart in the early 2000s at the air defense frigate Connect in 2020, via the surveillance frigate Floréalthe anti-submarine frigate Montcalmor the command and supply building Meuse.
Before returning to sea, Commander Villermet was assigned to the headquarters of the French Aeromaritime Rapid Reaction Force in Toulon.
