The Department, as part of its Higher Education and Research policy, has been supporting project leaders for many years and participating in the financing of actors contributing to the development of higher education.

RESEARCH LABORATORIES

The ISEN Méditerranée engineering school develops sectors of expertise and excellence, which respond to the Higher Education and Research policy voted by the Department. A partnership agreement was thus renewed this year. In 2024, the community contributed €255,000 distributed as follows with €120,000 investment for the ISEN research laboratories, €135,000 operating costs, including the Silv'IA Project (€98,000) , acculturation to cybersecurity (€3,000), cybersecurity bachelor (€34,000).
Two research laboratories were therefore inaugurated: the E-health and Smart Energy research laboratory. The E-health lab aims to offer innovative scientific approaches in the analysis of health data and the development of connected medical devices. As for the Smart Energy lab, it supports research aimed at providing an energy system that is efficient, profitable, sustainable and safe. These new systems support the specialties offered at ISEN Méditerranée to students in the 4th and 5th year of training. Many projects will be developed within the framework of these laboratories.

PROMOTE AUTONOMY

“Beyond the financial support that we provide for the creation of these laboratories which allow us to train our students, the desire of the Department, under the leadership of President Jean-Louis Masson, is to provide something with a departmental interest”, specifies Laëtitia Quilici, before adding: “The first competence of the Department is social and in particular autonomy. We want to bring together ISEN teacher-researchers and students to work with caregivers, medical staff, residents, etc. and find technological solutions to promote staying at home.”

These solutions can be tested in inclusive accommodation created by the Department, such as, for example, a connected fork on which a team of students is working. “When some people think that technology is non-human, we think on the contrary that it puts humans back at the heart of our priorities”, she concludes.

NOTE…

The Department's strategy in terms of higher education and research is based around 5 axes:

– Develop and strengthen sectors of excellence specific to the Department,
– Promote the influence and strengthen the attractiveness of Var higher education and research establishments,
– Ensure equity and territorial coverage in terms of higher education and research,
– Promote and improve the success of Var students,
– Strengthen the attractiveness of the community and its professions.
