The international exhibition of nativity scenes at the Vatican is becoming a tradition in Rome. The 7e edition of “100 nativity scenes in the Vatican” began on December 8 and will remain open until next Monday, January 6.
It was inaugurated by Mgr Rino Fisichella, pro-prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization and responsible for the organization of the Jubilee of 2025, in the presence of some members of the Dicastery and a representative of the city of Rome.
Created by artists from around the world, 125 nativity scenes – from 21 countries – are currently on display in Saint Peter’s Square and are accessible free of charge. The numerous Nativity scenes clearly reflect the inspiration and imagination of the artists and are created from a wide variety of materials.

The event takes on special significance this year due to the imminent opening of the Holy Door and the launch of the Ordinary Jubilee of 2025. The theme of the exhibition, “ The hope that does notehor not “, is taken from the title of the Bull of Indiction of the Holy Year, and particularly invites visitors to the hope and peace of Christmas.
« The exhibition “100 nativity scenes in the Vatican” is intended to be an experience that revives our faith, it is a moment that, for several years, has helped us to see more fully the mystery of Christmas » declared Mgr Fisichella.
Over the years, the initiative has grown, not only artistically but also pastorally and culturally, attracting a large number of faithful and visitors from all over the world.
