In her speech addressed to the Senegalese population on December 17, 2024, Fatou Diouf, the Senegalese Minister of Fisheries, Maritime and Port Infrastructure, announced a major project.
According to Fatou Diouf, Senegal will very soon acquire a national laboratory for the analysis and control of fishery products.
An infrastructure which will cost Senegal, the handsome sum of 7 billion and 124 million, according to the revelations of the Senegalese Minister of Fisheries, Maritime and Port Infrastructure.
Alongside her announcement of the establishment of the national laboratory for the analysis and control of fishery products, the Senegalese minister also presented a donation of 94 fiberglass canoes offered by Japan.
Fatou Diouf also announced in her speech the upcoming inauguration of the Joal fishing quay, approved to health standards.
“I am happy to announce to you that, it is again with your country, that my department will very soon inaugurate its first national laboratory for the analysis and control of fishery products for an amount of 7 billion and 124 million CFA francs as well as a Joal fishing quay, approved to health standards. These infrastructures, being graciously offered to our country by Japan”she said.
She continued her statement by sending a warm message to the government of Japan: “This success is the result of close collaboration and a shared desire to contribute to a better future for our people.
I cannot conclude my remarks without reiterating my thanks to the Government of Japan for their unwavering support.”.
And continue by making a promise: “The government will continue to work constructively and innovatively to maximize the benefits of this cooperation to improve the sustainability of fisheries resources…”.
