Six million, 8 games and then gone? A Club Brugge flop could already leave Belgium – The latest transfers

Club Brugge had a very good transfer window last summer, with some nice moves such as Christos Tzolis or Gustaf Nilsson. But Zaïd Romero has difficulty adapting.

FC Brugge is having an excellent season in the Jupiler Pro League and in Europe, and owes it in part to rather successful transfers such as Christos Tzolis and Gustaf Nilsson – as well as Ardon Jashari, who arrived last winter. But a newcomer has so far had difficulty adapting: it is a matter of Zaid Romero (25 ans).

The Argentine central defender did not arrive for nothing, however: Bruges spent 6 million euros with Estudiantes La Plata, an amount which implied an important role within the core of the Gazelles.

But since his arrival, Romero has only appeared eight times in all competitions, remaining on the bench for the entirety of the European campaign so far and only starting four times in the Jupiler Pro League. When the Mechele-Ordoñez duo is available, the Argentinian has no place in the eleven.

According to Brazilian journalist Diego Torbes,Lucky SportsGremio Porto Alegre could well try to take advantage of it this winter. The regional championship will begin at the end of January, while Gremio finished 14th in the national championship which ended a few weeks ago.

Romero is still valued at 5 million euros, and under contract at Bruges until 2028. Nothing indicates that the Blauw & Zwart would want to sell him this winter transfer window, but a loan while waiting for Joel Ordoñez to land an inevitable transfer next summer might seem logical.
