A serious road accident occurred this Wednesday, December 11, 2024, on the Voie Sacrée (RD1916), between the municipalities of Lemmes and Souilly in the Meuse. A car and a tanker truck collided for an unknown reason. The firefighters were alerted around 8:30 a.m.
A 53-year-old woman, a passenger in the car, lost her life. The driver of the car was slightly injured and hospitalized in Verdun. The driver of the truck, in a state of shock, was also taken to hospital.
According to the first elements collected on site, the two vehicles collided head-on. The circumstances of this accident remain to be clarified. A gendarmerie investigation was opened. Toxicological analyzes are underway.
The accident caused some traffic disruptions. A diversion was put in place and the road was partially blocked while emergency services intervened.
