Around ten cultural and social actors from North Mayenne (1) are launching a joint call to gather in Mayenne on Saturday December 14, 2024. The structures and associations are warning of the budget cuts announced by the Pays de la Loire region, in particular for associations, from 2025.
“The recent budget cut decisions will seriously and irremediably affect the associative fabric. “It’s a decision without consultation that has extremely serious consequences,” write the structures in a press release.
They recall that the sectors of culture, sport, community life and gender equality will be impacted. “The cessation of this financing endangers the local ecosystem and weakens a fragile financial balance,” write the signatories. They deplore the lack of consultation among regional elected officials and wish “speak up to clarify the reasons and meaning of our fight, open dialogue and find solutions”.
A meeting and a stroll
According to them, these cuts could be fatal for certain local associations. The actors continue: “These budget cuts will have repercussions on regional employment, as well as access to culture, integration and social ties for the inhabitants of North Mayenne and well beyond. »
A two-stage gathering is planned for Saturday December 14, 2024. Cultural and social actors from the region will meet residents to discuss on the Place des Halles in Mayenne and the Place de l'Église in Ernée, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. 30. One “citizen gathering” will then take place at 11:30 a.m., in front of the Mayenne theater. It will be followed by a stroll passing through the places affected by budget cuts.
