The Grenoble public prosecutor's office dismissed the report from the management of Grenoble École de management (GEM) on Tuesday, December 10, after the broadcast of racist and Islamophobic videos on social networks, the prosecutor said Tuesday evening, reports France Bleu Isère . The videos, published in late November and early December, show students mocking the Muslim community and “blackface,” a racist practice that involves painting one's face black.
For Eric Vaillant, the public prosecutor of Grenoble, “these videos do not allow the characterization of any criminal offense, in particular public insult or provocation of racial hatred”. The prosecution specifies that it now belongs to the GEM school “to assess whether the behavior of its students justifies disciplinary sanctions for violation of the school's internal regulations”.
The internal investigation carried out within Grenoble École de management is still ongoing. A listening cell has been set up since the beginning of the week. “As part of its status as a mission-driven company, as well as through its Health and Inclusion department, GEM carries out regular awareness-raising activities among its students,” recalls the establishment. “From 2025, this system for combating racist acts will be strengthened and a listening and reception time will be put in place for students affected by these events,” he continues.
The videos published on social networks were taken as part of the campaign for the BDE (student office), outside the premises of the school's various establishments. They concern two lists of BDEs which have since been banned. Several students, less than ten, are implicated.
