In Doha, Dakar calls for global support for democratic efforts in Africa | APAnews

At the Doha Forum, Senegalese Minister of African Integration, Yassine Fall, highlighted the global challenges facing Africa and reaffirmed the need for the continent to have a legitimate place on the international stage, while calling for global support for democratic efforts and debt management.

Following President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the Senegalese Minister responsible for African Integration and Foreign Affairs, Yassine Fall spoke at the Doha Forum which opened on Saturday December 7, emphasizing the importance of strengthening African institutions and to guarantee a better place for the continent on the world stage.

« We live in a very fragmented world, facing enormous challenges, whether security, economic or linked to social justice.she declared, before highlighting the expectations of young Africans. “ Young people are not only demanding economic justice, the fight against poverty, but also that Africa has its place on a global scale. They also demand sovereignty », added the head of Senegalese diplomacy.

The minister then addressed the issue of debt, specifying that “ Senegal told the truth to the world: the country’s debt is much higher than we were told. » She called for international support for African countries, particularly in terms of debt management and support for democratic efforts. “ NWe must support countries like Senegal, which are implementing a democratic and transparent process “, she pleaded.

Yassine Fall also welcomed the entry of the African Union into the G20, believing that this represented an important step for Africa, while calling for concrete actions to support the development of the continent.

« Support must be linked to a clear vision and development agenda “, she insisted, specifying that Senegal intended to work with investors to ensure that the country’s resources benefit both its citizens and its international partners.

This statement comes as Senegal continues its efforts to strengthen democracy and stability at the national and regional level.
