Closed to traffic by the Morbihan prefecture since 2020, the small Buléon bridge on departmental 165 has crystallized the fed up elected officials and residents of the town forcing the owner of Domaine de La Ferrière to file for bankruptcy.
“We walk on our heads”
The work of art, weakened by the passage of vehicles, had deteriorated over time. Within its jurisdiction, the Department of Morbihan was to carry out the work but the State services refused on the grounds that the owner of the neighboring estate refused todry up your pond. This is located on his property. “Erasing this hillside water reservoir makes no sense,” the latter explained at the time of the decision. It is more than 200 years old, it is part of our heritage and it is a paradise for biodiversity.” And to mention the eels, pike and salamanders that live on this body of water. “Not to mention the mallards which, at the time of migration, arrive here by the hundreds,” even underlines Yves Perdreau.
Prohibited to heavy vehicles the ban extended to cars and even pedestrians. The mayor of Buléon, Pierre Bouédo, then became irritated in his turn: “I hear all the time: And your bridge, what about your bridge?'. First of all, it's not mine. But it’s clear that, in this story, we’re walking on our heads.”
He put the key under the door
Since then, the owner of the hotel-restaurant of the Domaine de la Ferrière, finished by going out of business due to lack of customers. “It’s access to my domain,” explains Yves Perdreau. So, obviously, people no longer come because it’s inaccessible. »
The activity of the hotel and restaurant declined little by little. But then I stopped everything. It’s judicial liquidation.”
This Buléon bridge opens up the north-west of the town towards Radenac. Mayor Pierre Bouédo and his municipal council therefore joined forces with the owner of La Ferrière to strongly highlight the delay in work. The owner of the estate recalls that the government “is encouraging the re-creation of hillside water reservoirs. We are in the “at the same time”, he quips. I have to drain the pond and, at the same time, at the highest level of the State, we are talking about conservation.”
Unsuitable deviations
In Buléon, some speak “ from the bridge of misery », so much does this story weigh here. A petition even saw the light of day. The mayor of the town did not hide his weariness, especially since the detour put in place forced residents and heavy goods vehicles to make a detour of nearly 10 kilometers, this time weakening the municipal roads. “They were not adapted to receive so much traffic,” explains Pierre Bouédo. But the solution would have been for the prefect to cancel his order which prohibits traffic at this location and authorizes the Department to carry out the work, without emptying the pond. And afterwards, we would have seen the question of the body of water.”
In the meantime, farmers also suffered from diversions via Radenac and used municipal roads not suitable for machines.
On March 11, the Morbihan prefecture finally announced thatemergency workwere going to be engaged.
Six months later the bridge is open to traffic again. Finally ! But for Domaine de La Ferrière, it is too late. Yves Perdreau is looking for a buyer. The site is closed to him.
