Wednesday afternoon, Marie-France Huet, responsible for the Restos du Coeur branch in Gacé (Orne), assisted by Jocelyne Bonhomme (stocks and orders), welcomed Catherine Weber de Rizedepartmental president of restaurants, elected officials, volunteers and people welcomed by the restaurants, to take stock of the summer campaign and launch the winter campaign which began this Friday, November 22.
October collection down
Around twenty people participated in this meeting, including Jean-Pierre Féretdepartmental advisor, who recalled that 60% of the Department's budget was devoted to social issues. Few representatives of the other municipalities concerned came. Marie-France Huet thanked the dedicated volunteers.
The October collection made it possible to recover 2 095 kg of food, compared to 2,689 kg for the previous collection.
70 single and elderly people served
The departmental president informs that there are new scales. “A single scale for the whole year, with a special one for single-parent families. At the early childhood level (0 to 36 months), reception will be set up depending on availability in the premises. During the last summer campaign, 70 people alone and elderly were served.
The branch manager took the opportunity to thank her team for volunteers and town halls which award subsidies. “3,000 meals were served for the summer campaign. We can’t take everyone.”
Pour Patrick Génin“a bad image of Restos du coeur is conveyed to those welcomed”.
During collections, people take the liberty of asking what certain people are doing there? You have lazy people who could go to work.
The winter campaign started Friday, November 22, with 70 families registered (40 for the morning and 30 for the afternoon).
