School teachers “responded to the call for a strike from trade union organizations” with almost “65% of strikers announced” in the “first degree” Thursday, December 5, the majority FSU-SNUIpp announced on Tuesday. Civil servants are called to mobilize for a day of action and strike, threatening to open a new social front, while the government is threatened with censorship.
The announcement by the executive, at the end of October, of a plan to fight against“absenteeism” of civil servants, which should make it possible to generate 1.2 billion euros in savings, has gradually strained relations between the agents' unions and the Minister of the Civil Service. “The violent attack on the measures of (…) Guillaume Kasbarian, but also the announcements of job cuts resonate strongly in the country's schools”writes the FSU-SNUIpp in a press release.
“In all departments, thousands of schools will be closed on Thursday and staff will everywhere demonstrate their anger at this government.” “For too many years now, teachers have felt disrespected by a power that does not take the measure of the field”continues the union. The latter deplores “degraded working conditions, salaries at half mast and purchasing power which is only declining.”
After the railway workers and farmers, the executive is preparing for a new week of social tensions. Several dozen rallies are planned in France at the call of an inter-union movement on Thursday, the day after the examination in the National Assembly of two motions of censure against the government.
