Four people, including the general director and the former chairwoman of the board of directors of the fund for independents and self-employed people, were indicted in October, notably for “corruption” or “illegal taking of interests”. The sale of buildings in Paris is dissected by investigators.
They are self-employed or translators, expert surveyors, psychologists, architects, from around twenty liberal professions, i.e. nearly 600,000 policyholders still contributing to their retirement fund: Cipav, or Interprofessional Provident and Old Age Insurance Fund, a private law organization carrying out a public service mission. The complaint filed by an association of policyholders, Cipav.info, triggered an unprecedented dive behind the scenes of a series of sales of Parisian buildings, notably in the 8th, 16th or 17th arrondissements of the capital, put on the market by Cipav in 2021 and 2022. A judicial investigation was opened by the Paris prosecutor's office in 2021 to “organized gang fraud” et «concussion», then expanded to facts of “corruption”, “illegal taking of interests” or from “aggravated money laundering”. In October, the investigating judge indicted four people, including Marie-Laure Schneider, the former president of the council.
