Twilight for Barnier, Cold cases in Isère and Trump expected at Notre-Dame

Did you miss the news this morning? We have put together a summary to help you see things more clearly.

The crucial political week continues at the Palais Bourbon. The deputies will be called – most probably Wednesday or Thursday – to vote on a motion of censure which has every chance of being approved, the left, in particular LFI, and the National Rally having announced that they would vote for it. Michel Barnier's team is therefore more than ever on borrowed time. While waiting for the vote, the question session to the government scheduled for the afternoon in the National Assembly promises to be extremely tense. And this evening, the Prime Minister will answer questions from Anne-Sophie Lapix ( 2) and Gilles Bouleau (TF1) live from Matignon in the 8 p.m. news.

Justice has just made significant progress in two very old criminal cases in Isère. A man suspected of the murder of a 15-year-old girl in 1988 and that of a 40-year-old woman in 2000 in the department was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention on Monday, said the prosecutor's office. The suspect, aged around sixty, was arrested and taken into custody last week in the premises of the research section gendarmes after being identified by his DNA.

It is a journey full of symbols. Donald Trump will make his first trip abroad this week since his victory in the presidential election on November 5. And for the occasion, he reserved this premiere at Notre-Dame de . The President-elect of the United States announced on Monday that he would travel to France on Saturday to attend the reopening of the cathedral, where around fifty heads of state and government are expected. The one who will take office at the White House on January 20 also congratulated Emmanuel Macron for his “remarkable work in ensuring that Notre-Dame is restored to regain all its glory and even more”.
