Culture: Discover the Chroma show projected on Cathedral

The show Chroma takes place after dark from Friday November 29 to Sunday December 29. Spectators discover the culture of through the projection of high-definition digital images projected onto the majestic western facade of Notre-Dame d'Amiens.

From blue, a tribute to the Waidier merchants who contributed to the construction of the monument, to an animated restitution of the polychromies, each shade is a step in this journey through time. A guide-lecturer qualified will be available every evening in front of the cathedral to answer questions from spectators.

A tribute to Notre-Dame de

This year, this show will tribute to Notre-Dame de Paris. The 15 avril 2019the fire which ravaged the Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris plunged the world into fear. The iconic spire was collapsing, the roof and framework were devastated, and the nation feared losing one of its greatest treasures. Five years after this tragedy, the cathedral is preparing to reopen its doors.

The work that followed the fire was colossal. Thousands of craftsmen, architects and experts mobilized to restore the building to its original condition, while preserving its historic character. This meticulous work enabled Notre-Dame de Paris to regain its former appearancewhile meeting modern security and conservation requirements.

Points in common with Notre-Dame d’Amiens

Notre-Dame is not alone in its history. Amiens Cathedral shares with it a long architectural tradition. Amiens Cathedral follows the same Gothic model, with twin towers, an imposing facade and similar iconographic portals. The two buildings, listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, are deeply linked, not only by their architecture, but also by their role in the collective memory of . The spire of Notre-Dame de Paris, rebuilt identically after the fire, is directly inspired by that of Amienstestifying to this reciprocal influence.

Culture highlighted

On the occasion of the reopening of Notre-Dame, the company Chroma will offer a rendered visual sequence tribute to these two monuments. This installation will highlight their beauty and historical importance, while recalling the collective emotion aroused by the fire and the determination to restore the monument.

You can find this show every evening at 7 p.m. It is free and lasts 50 minutes.
