In this context, 10 new police officers will join Calais, but the North is not left out: with the same objectives, 15 civil servants will join .

More widely in the North, 21 new police officers will join DIPN 59 (Interdepartmental Directorate of the National Police) and will be in charge of public security in the Lille, Dunkirk and police stations. They complement the 61 reinforcements who have arrived in the department since last July.

In addition to the 65 police officers who join the border police in Pas-de-Calais, there are 13 other police officers, dispatched to the administrative detention centers of Coquelles and Lesquin, for the North. These reinforcements respond to the orientation and programming law of the Ministry of the Interior (LOPMI) of January 2023, which provides for the recruitment of 8,500 police officers and gendarmes in 5 years.

The staff comes from all over , for the closest ones, Saint-Malo among the furthest away. “They all come from training at the national police academy. They will strengthen the backbone of the country's internal forces, which will thus reconnect with a high level of security. Because security is the most precious asset we have,” explained Bertrand Gaume.

And precisely, on the subject of security in the North, the prefect indicated that there was “ a stabilization of general delinquency“. A decline in burglaries is underway, when repression against drug traffickers intensifies.
