The CCI du and Google present the possibilities of AI to tourism professionals

More than 130 tourism professionals gathered in Nîmes this Monday, December 2 for a Tourism Day organized by the CCI du . Google, as a prestigious guest, had these tourism professionals explore the potential of AI.

The “Tourism Day”, organized by the CCI Gard and its partner Google, hosted this year Benoît Tabaka, general secretary of Google . The latter spoke on the theme “Google and Artificial Intelligence: What opportunities for professionals, today and in the future?” “.

For the majority of participants, this is indeed a discovery even if many of them integrate Artificial Intelligence into the daily life of their company.

For the secretary general of Google France, tourism is one of the three sectors which, along with public health and service professions, will be most impacted by artificial intelligence.

AI will intervene at 3 levels for the tourism sector: the management of communication and marketing, reservations, customer reviews and which can help direct visitors to visits in the sector, activities, restaurants, etc.

While only 6% of French companies had adopted AI technology in 2023, according to a study by the Concorde Institute in partnership with Google France, “ it becomes essential to promote training and adoption of these innovative tools » specifies Eric Giraudier, President CCI Gard. AI promises to transform professional practices, increasing productivity and offering new economic prospects for the tourism sector.

The only obstacle for the public present is the non-confidentiality of data transmitted on Open AI tools such as ChatGPT or Gemini (Google tool). A brake to which Benoit Tabaka responded by giving secure AI tools like Google's NotebookLM and explaining that personal or confidential information should not be transmitted on open AI tools.

Since 2018, the collaboration between the CCI Gard and the Google Digital Workshops has already made it possible to train more than 1,500 local professionals, part of a common ambition: to support tourism businesses in their digital and sustainable transition.

This Monday afternoon, all professionals in the tourism sector were able to participate in conferences on the establishment profile and digital marketing led by Google Digital Workshops coaches. At the same time, advisors from the Gard Chamber of Commerce and Industry offered participatory workshops on sustainable tourism and commercial requirements.
