The Nantes police have not found the trace of the author of a stabbing which injured a person in the city center on Saturday evening. The victim's vital prognosis would not be compromised.
The man with the blade is still running. On Monday, the police were still looking for a suspect, almost 48 hours after the city center of Nantes (Loire-Atlantique) was once again the scene of a knife attack. The attack occurred on Saturday evening, November 30, on Allée Duguay-Trouin, a stone's throw from the Nantes tramway intersection, one of the busiest intersections in the city of dukes. Around 10:30 p.m., witnesses saw two individuals coming to blows, until one of the people involved drew a bladed weapon. The victim suffered several blows before his attacker fled.
Ongoing investigation
Taken care of by emergency services, the attacked man was transported to Nantes University Hospital in the evening. Aged 26, he suffered injuries to his head and thigh. Operated on Saturday evening, he was still in the hospital on Sunday. His life would not be in danger. The origin of the brawl has not yet been determined, said a police source. The investigation continues.
In Nantes, the Place du Commerce sector is renowned as a nerve center for various small-scale trafficking, mainly cigarettes and drugs, including pregabalin. The Nantes public prosecutor recalled last week that this substance was found “too regularly” at the origin of numerous facts seriously disturbing public order in the city center of the city of the dukes. Between January 2020 and August 2023, 94 legal proceedings were opened in Nantes for cases of pregabalin consumption and for attacks committed under its influence.
