Rast scores his first World Cup victory, Swiss double – rts.ch

Incredible Camille Rast! The Valaisanne won the Killington World Cup slalom ahead of Wendy Holdener and took control of the discipline.

Life in pink for Camille Rast! After two 3rd places, in slalom in Gurgl and Saturday in giant in Killington, the skier from Vétroz went for the best place: first. And with style, what’s more.

“I'm so happy…”

It's crazy, everything is happening so fast, I'm so happy, I don't know what to say“, replied Rast to the FIS microphone at the end of the race. Asked about the fact that she is now at the top of the slalom and general rankings of the World Cup, the skier from Vétroz admitted that she does not didn't realize yet:I know it's only the start of the season. I said to myself: 'do it for yourself and have fun!' And then I'm so happy to be on the podium with Wendy and that Mélanie is not far away.”

Third in the first round, Rast achieved the 3rd best second round to win with a 0.57'' lead over a duo made up of Wendy Holdener and Anna Swenn Larsson. For the record, the two women finished together in first place in the slalom in 2022.

9th on the morning route with an error, Wendy Holdener recovered very well for her second effort. The Schwyzoise produced an excellent copy with the best time in the second round. Note that we have to go back to January 26, 1996 to find traces of the last Swiss double in slalom. In Sestriere, Sonja Nef then beat Marlies Oester.

Höpli 15e and Gisin 19e

The overall result of the Swiss is even better thanks to the 5th place of Mélanie Meillard, who also continues good results on the short turn after her 7th place in Levi and her 10th in Gurgl.

We can say that the representatives of Swiss-Ski were able to take advantage of the absences of Mikaela Shiffrin, injured the day before in giant, and of Petra Vlhova, not yet recovered from her injury last year.

Aline Höpli had the pleasure of scoring her first points in the World Cup. 25th in the first round, Höpli finally ranked 15th. Fifth ranked Swiss, Michelle Gisin finally inherited 19th place. Nicole Good, Aline Danioth and Elena Stoffel were eliminated in the first round.
