The ballot boxes have spoken. Marked by a strong abstention (69.49%), the first round of the partial legislative election in the first constituency of the Ardennes saw the National Rally come out on top with 39.11% of the votes cast and 8,287 votes. Candidate Jordan Duflot is therefore qualified for the second round of voting which will take place on December 7.

Former MP (2022-2024) Lionel Vuibert (SE) is also qualified for the second round, after obtaining 25.42% of the votes and 5,385 votes.

In third position, Guillaume Maréchal (LR), who ran in 2022 but not in the summer of 2024. He received 16.04% with 3,399 votes.

Finally, Damien Lerouge (PS-NFP) could not obtain better than 2,254 votes, or 10.64% of the votes.

The polling stations in the first constituency, which notably includes part of Charleville-Mézières and Rethel, closed at 6 p.m. The partial legislative election follows the resignation of the elected RN, Flavien Termet, for health reasons. The early legislative elections of June and July 2024 resulted in a victory for the National Rally in the first constituency of the Ardennes, a first in the department. The candidate Flavien Termet, just 22 years old, largely won in the second round with 53.0% of the votes cast against 47.0% for the outgoing deputy Lionel Vuibert (Renaissance). Participation was considerable, with 67.5% of voters who went to their polling station.

In the first round, Flavien Termet already had a large lead over Lionel Vuibert, with respectively 38.3% and 26.2% of the votes cast. The candidate of the New Popular Front, the socialist Damien Lerouge, was third with 17.5% of the vote. Participation was 67.3% of those registered.

During the 2022 legislative elections, which followed the presidential election in which Emmanuel Macron was re-elected, Lionel Vuibert won in the second round, against the National Rally then represented by Laurent Richard. The Renaissance candidate obtained 50.3% of the votes, against 49.7% for his opponent. His lead was only 198 votes. Participation was 45.1%.

In the first round of the 2022 legislative elections, Laurent Richard (RN) was however ahead of his opponent in the presidential majority by almost seven points. He obtained 27.4% of the votes when Lionel Vuibert had 20.5%. Guillaume Marécal, Les Républicains, was one point behind, with 19.7% of the vote. Julien Duruisseau, for the New Ecological and Social Popular Union, won over 18.5% of voters. Participation, for its part, amounted to 46.5% of those registered.

The first constituency of the Ardennes has long been in the hands of the right. Bérangère Poletti, elected UMP then LR, was its deputy for twenty years, from 2002 to 2022. She chose not to run at the end of her fourth term and gave her support to Guillaume Maréchal. The latter had not gone beyond the first round, in June 2022.
