Thursday November 28, 2024, gendarmes of the brigade of Puy-l'Evêqueaccompanied by a gendarme student on training in the unit, thanks to their flair made it possible to arrest a group of individuals in a stolen car in the municipality of Castelfrancin the Lot valley.

The vehicle had been stolen the day before in Duravel in the Lot

That day, early in the evening, the commander of the community of brigades of Puy-l'Évêque was informed that a vehicle whose registration had been grossly altered was roaming the streets of the commune of Castelfranc in the Lot valley.

With a cadet from the military academy of the national gendarmerie of Melun, currently on a discovery course within the unit, he constitutes a patrol for research. Very quickly, the vehicle was discovered parked in the town. It corresponds to a vehicle reported stolen in the town of Duravel the day before.

A surveillance system is put in place to identify vehicle users. A few moments later, several people got into the vehicle which started moving again.

The car found in record time

This was without taking into account the responsiveness of the two soldiers who immediately ordered the driver to stop, an order which had no effect on the latter who continued his route by increasing his speed.

The pugnacity of the soldiers, combined with their perfect knowledge of the terrain, allowed the duo to very quickly stop the trio of criminals in their tracks.

The three people arrested were placed in police custody. Acknowledging the facts, they were made available to the courts with judicial summonses as a result.

As for the stolen vehicle, it was returned to its rightful owner in record time. Ill-gotten wealth never benefits for long in the Lot valley…
