With his thumb and middle finger wrapped in enormous bandages, Abdelkader did not fare well before the Versailles court. His fingers hurt. But above all, he fears ending up in prison at the end of this hearing on Friday November 29, 2024.
The 43-year-old man, from Chesnay-Rocquencourt, did not get his hand stuck in a door. He has just had two whitlow operations at the private hospital in Trappes (Yvelines). Not without difficulty. This patient attacked the doctors and nurses. Until they had no choice but to call the police.
“When I get out, I’ll kill you”
Two days earlier, Wednesday November 27, Abdelkader presented himself to the hand emergency room. He is in terrible pain. The operation is inevitable.
It is 11:30 a.m. when the anesthesiologist and nurse have just finished their injection. The patient complains of pain around his catheter. He expresses it with insults and a promise: “You’re dead. When I get out, I'll kill you. »
The man returns home. The police come to join him. He complains of other pains. The firefighters take him to the hospital. There, he refuses the blood test, calling the doctor an “asshole.” »
“Maybe I said shut up.”
“It was he who told me first,” Abdelkader assures the court. Almost like a child. Apologies come in packs of ten. “I sincerely regret it. I arrived in a state of stress… I was afraid of having surgery. There was some excess but I don't remember the threats. I may have said shut up, but that's it. I'm ashamed. I want to lower my head. »
“If we don’t agree to get treatment, we’ll cut our hand”
The public prosecutor says she is “dismayed by the facts. Needles are not pleasant, everyone knows that. If you don't agree to get treatment, then you stay at home, take a pill or cut your hand. » And to continue after reading the 17 mentions of the criminal record:
“He boasted of having toured the prisons of France. He has not yet tasted that of Bois-d'Arcy. I am asking for 12 months in prison. »
After deliberating, the court pronounced the sanction, strictly in accordance with the requisitions. He is now banned from Trappes hospital for 2 years as well as any contact with the doctors and nurses who still treated him.
Upon his release, he will also have to put in place a timetable to pay the customs fine of 850,000 euros linked to an old drug case.
