the reopening of the Arly gorges is further postponed

The reopening was planned for mid-November but the axis must still remain closed for an indefinite period.

History repeats itself on the border between Savoie and Haute-Savoie in the Arly gorges on the famous Rd 1212. Following a rockfall that occurred at the beginning of the week in the Moulin Ravier sector, the portion located between Ugine and the Mottets bridge must still remain closed and its reopening date has been postponed again, the Savoie department announced this Friday, November 29, 2024.

The community specifies that light works are underway to clear and secure this part of the road and the diversion via Héry-sur-Ugine (RD 109) remains in force. Concerning the sector between Flumet and the Frassette bridge, reopening is planned before the end of year school holidays.
As a reminder, Rd 1212 has been closed to traffic since September 9, 2024 to allow security, repair and maintenance work to be carried out. But this very technical project, plagued by bad weather, is encountering delays. On the night of October 1 to 2, 2024, a landslide occurred in the Poniente sector, on the Ugine side.
