It's a cry from the heart. And call for help. Marie, 36 years old, lives in the town of Evellys in Morbihan. And she's on the brink. To the point of wondering if she shouldn't abandon parental rights concerning his son, Kylian*, now 14 years old. A teenager diagnosed autistic at the age of 10 and who is taken impulses regular and very violent to the point of threatening his mother's life.
He threatened his mother with a knife
“The last time was last June. He didn't want to go tomedical-educational institute (IME) in which he has been welcomed for several months. He lost his temper. He broke everything. To calm down, I went outside. »
“He then came out with a knife in his hand. He placed it under my throat, holding me tightly. I had to bite him to free myself.”
A scene from a incredible violence. One more in the daily life of Marie who lives alone in her house. Kylian's father was disenfranchised a long time ago for domestic violence. And if she does have a companion today, because of Kylian, they do not live under the same roof.
Diagnosed with autism at age 10
Mary's life became a Calvary since the birth of his son. “As soon as he was placed in daycare, he showed violent behavior. He couldn't stand the frustration. At school it didn't go well either. At 7 years old, he was placed in a specialized institute (Itep). In this environment, he unconsciously learned to repeat the actions of other violent children,” says Marie, who is a caregiver in life.
It was also at this age that he used a knife for the first time to scare his mother.
Marie is already starting to ask for help. From social assistance. A child psychiatrist from Quimper is then receptive to the mother's problem. And at the age of 10, Kylian is hospitalized. “Unfortunately after a year, the service closed. It’s a real shame because he felt good there.”
It is still at this age that the diagnosis finally falls. Kylian suffers from a autistic symptom.
“He knows. He asks for forgiveness but he does it again”
He returns to an IME then to an adapted education institute (IEA). From one establishment to another. “I had the feeling he didn’t know what to do with himself. I'm told it's complicated. But in my case, maybe it’s not? »
“I live in fear, the fear that something bad will happen to me. I'm afraid I'll react badly one day and inadvertently hurt him. »
Kylian has grown up. Here it is adolescent. With all that that implies. “He’s a head taller than me. Physically, I can't do anything anymore. He weighs 90 kg, in particular because of his treatment which makes him lose all satiety. He is in a difficult period, with lots of questions like all teenagers his age.”
Last February, an event marked it: the death of his grandfather. “It became more and more complicated at home. He has, like that, phases where he is not doing well. He knows it. He is aware of being violent. He asks for forgiveness afterwards but that doesn’t stop him from doing it again later.”
A judge orders his placement
The June incident was one too many. “I had to call the fire brigade. He was hospitalized. The prosecutor has been contacted.”
On June 26, a judgment from the children's court from Lorient, ordered the placement of Kylian with Morbihan child welfare for a period of 6 months.
But five months later, the teenager is still at his mother's house. He continues to be tossed around from one institute to another. Marie wrote a long email summarizing her situation to the Brittany Regional Health Agency. “I didn’t even get a single response!” “.
His mother, aged 69, and living in the south of France, even came to Brittany. Rented a mobile home to take her grandson for a week, just to allow her daughter to rest.
“I am psychologically exhausted”
“I was forced to reduce my working hours. I could never really have a balanced personal life. It's hard, I'm tired. I want to find a lasting solution. He needs to be hospitalized for a longer period and we need to review his treatment, which is no longer even appropriate.”
Fortunately, a few friends and family members tried to bring comfort to Marie. “I thank them for being there.”
But Marie can't help but think the worst.
“I tell myself that perhaps, one day, when a serious accident happens, I will be heard. But then it will be too late! »
On December 20, Marie will once again meet the person on whom she places all her hopes: the judge who ordered Kylian's placement. So, she's still going to keep her fingers crossed. An umpteenth time.
