16.5 million euros. This is the amount of which the municipalities could be deprived in 2025, if the budget of the Morbihan departmental council is adopted as is, on December 16. A hypothesis that makes the departmental advisors of the left group react. “Each year, the Department grants 12 to 15 million to support projects in the municipalities,” recalls Mathieu Glaz, departmental councilor (Lorient-Nord). David Lappartient has planned the suspension of this territorial solidarity program in 2025.” An announcement made during the congress of mayors, in Pluvigner, last October. This arbitration takes place in the context of budgetary efforts requested by the State.
“Other ways to save money”
Elected officials from the left-wing and environmentalist group are worried about the consequences of this announced lack of funds. “This territorial solidarity program represents an essential lever for projects to succeed,” adds Mathieu Glaz. In 2024, public services such as the Silfiac canteen and the Plumelec health center were helped by the Department. Elected officials also fear consequences for the companies called upon to work on these projects.
“We are proposing other ways to save money. Certain investments such as those made in marinas do not seem to us to be priorities, believes Rozenn Métayer, departmental councilor (Lorient Sud). We hope that this program will be maintained at least for the most vulnerable municipalities.”
