From October 17 and until November 20, 2024, in Mayenne as throughout the department, several independent bookstores have joined forces with Secours populaire to offer a new book to a child or teenager who does not own one. Olivier Dorgère, manager of the Marais bookstore, explains the “Give things to read” initiative: The principle is simple. For a month, customers could choose and add a children's book to their purchases and they responded well. It is an operation that cannot be exhausted.
64 books collected

They will be offered on December 19 to children of families who benefit from food aid. When you have to manage a small budget, everything is counted, food obviously comes before reading,”
