“Unacceptable damage! », exclaimed the prefecture of Tarn-et-Garonne on XWednesday November 27, 2024, the day after the strong mobilization of farmers angry in the neighboring department of Haute-Garonne.

500 farmers in

In the evening and night of Tuesday, November 26, many farmers on tractors came to the town of Montauban. Exactly 500 participants, according to the prefecture, and 150 tractors and tippers.

Waste and damage to buildings

A meeting which did not go unnoticed, and which left its mark. “They dumped their waste on the public buildings », Blames the Tarn-et-Garonne prefecture.

Three buildings were targeted: the Unal site housing the Departmental Directorate of Employment, Labor, Solidarity and Population Protection, the Forestié site, bringing together Public Finance, the Departmental Services Directorate of National Education ( DSDEN) and the Regional Health Agency (ARS) as well as the Carmel site which houses the Departmental Directorate of Territories (DDT), DREAL, the French Biodiversity Office (OFB) and the Architect of buildings of (ABF).

She adds: “This morning, it is clear, after cleaning up these hundreds of tonnes of rubbish, that certain buildings have been damaged: gates and fences broken down, introduction and dumping in the premises, tags targeting State services, broken glass, projection of manure and oil on the walls. »

“For us, there was no damage. We didn't break anything, neither gates nor buildings. We just dumped waste,” retorts the general secretary of the Young Farmers of Tarn-et-Garonne, Benjamin Checcin, contacted by News Toulouse, who is not aware of this damage.

Communist Party premises “ransacked”

State buildings, but not only. The premises of the French Communist Party (PCF) of Tarn-et-Garonnewere also affected by the rage of the farmers, who have been waiting for answers to their demands for several months.

“During the parade organized in town by the FNSEA and the JA some of them took advantage of the opportunity to ransack the federation's premises,” the political party communicated. “Wild dumps, broken windows, stolen equipment and damage that the communists of Tarn-et-Garonne do not understand,” he adds.

And to continue: “The communists of Tarn-et-Garonne renew their support for the peasant world. We strongly condemn the deterioration that occurred this week and urge the agricultural unions to show responsibility by not setting the wrong political target and by not using the anger of their members for political purposes. »

But on the side of the main targets, the discourse is not the same. The general secretary of JA 82 denies: “Some went to the PCF, it was not planned but it was good natured. We just put down a bale of hay. We are not angry with the PCF. If there was any damage, it wasn’t done on purpose.”

Complaints filed

PCF 82, however, confirmed Toulouse News his deposit of complaint againstfor politically motivated damage “pending viewing of surveillance videos”. “We can then specify who, or what organization, attacked us, to turn us against them,” indicates Julien Sueres of PCF 82.
