Originally from Mayenne, these young people will travel across Europe with a mini-caravan towed by bike

Noé Bélier and Louis Péculier, 20 years old, are seasoned athletes, licensed at the Ernéenne Triathlon (Mayenne). Noé, from Ernée, has just obtained a professional civil engineering license, wood layout. Louis, from Saint-Pierre-des-Landes, has just finished his 4e year at Esseo (Higher School of Electronics of the West) in (Maine-et-). He will take a sabbatical year before entering 5e year.

In November 2023, during a bike ride, we said to ourselves that we would like to do a bike tour in Europe, in our own way. As we like design and DIY, we thought about making a specific caravan remembers Louis Péculier.

Direction Copenhague

The implementation quickly followed: choice of bicycles without electrical assistance, one of which will tow the caravan; the plans of the caravan drawn with software; the choice of materials: light wood with metal structure; and expanded polystyrene insulation; weight optimization, with a final version of 60 kg indicates Noé Bélier.

The caravan will carry the lightest luggage such as clothes, sleeping bags, and basic kitchen equipment. The other bike will be equipped with panniers containing around twenty kilos.

Second important step: defining the route and timing as precisely as possible: A departure towards the north to spend the winter, with an arrival in Copenhagen (Denmark) for the end of year holidays, where our families are expected to join us. And a return to the south of Europe (Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal) in spring and summer, to enjoy the landscapes. We will complete 70% of our route on the Euro Vélo route. indicates Noé Bélier.

To carry out the project financially, the entourage and friends were active: holding presentation evenings, looking for sponsors.

Colorful equipment

Why such a long bike ride? To facilitate meetings, easier when you move slowly. Our unusual, colorful equipment will not fail to attract curiosity wherever we pass and stop. Perhaps we will sometimes be accommodated? On the other hand, we want to show that we can travel far with means that respect nature. We will report our daily journey on social networks indicates Louis Péculier.
