The mobilization of farmers does not weaken in Tarn-et-Garonne. This Tuesday, November 26 in the evening, there were 600 demonstrators and more than 200 tractors (450 demonstrators and around 150 tractors according to the prefecture) to converge on the city center of Montauban to make their anger heard; “Unheard of” for the organizers.
If proof was needed that farmers are ready to resume their mobilization, like the one they carried out at the start of the year, the demonstration organized in Montauban is one. This Tuesday, November 26 in the evening, at the call of the FDSEA and the Young Farmers (JA) of Tarn-et-Garonne, 600 farmers and more than 200 tractors according to the unions (450 demonstrators and around 150 tractors according to the prefecture) are gathered in the town of Ingres. “Never seen before!” » estimates the FDSEA 82.
A record mobilization which began at the end of the afternoon, when clusters of tractors set off from several towns in Tarn-et-Garonne such as Valence-d'Agen or Castelsarrasin, to reach Montauban via the A62, a motorway on which A snail operation was carried out. Just like on the A20, where farmers from Caussade in particular came to join their counterparts. All gathered in Montauban, they then targeted several emblematic sites of the city to dump their skips there. Thus, “the prefecture, the Departmental Directorate of Territories (DDT), the Forestié site housing the Departmental Directorate of Public Finances (DDFIP), the house of the Region, the municipal workshops, the Sapiac bridge…” were targeted, according to the state services, which however do not report any major damage or incidents.
Around midnight, a delegation of farmers was received: “The prefect of Tarn-et-Garonne, Vincent Roberti heard the union representatives during a hearing lasting more than 1h30”, confirms the prefecture, thus putting an end to the manifestation. If no commitment was made last night, farmers are now waiting for “acts following promises”, otherwise the conflict will become bogged down.
