This Friday, November 29 and Saturday, November 30, Reunion Islanders are invited to mobilize massively as part of the 38th edition of the Telethon. Objective: collect donations to help research into genetic diseases. Several actions are organized on the island. A dedicated village will take up residence in Saint-Denis.
In 2023, for the 37th edition of the Telethon, more than 314,932 euros were raised in Reunion. The objective is therefore to do better for this year 2024 during this weekend of November 29 to 30.
More than 125 events are scheduled across the four corners of the island, and a dedicated village will be set up in the Bancoul au Moufia sector, in Saint-Denis, the ambassador city.
At the helm of the event is the AFM-Téléthon, an association of activists, patients and parents of patients engaged in the fight against rare genetic diseases.
The people of Reunion are called to mobilize and the sponsor of this 38th edition is none other than Claude Montanet who was the guest of Philippe Dornier in Gran Matin on Réunion la 1ère, Wednesday November 27, alongside Sonia Hoarau, the delegate of the AFM-Téléthon Réunion.
She gave some details on what will be offered in this Telethon village, and in particular a “zumba” operation in Saint-Denis where for the occasion participants are invited to dress in the Telethon colors, in yellow.
Watch this extract from Sonia Hoarau's speech on Réunion la 1ère:
More than 435 volunteers are mobilized in the majority of municipalities and the organizers hope to specifically raise more than 185,000 euros as part of the actions carried out on the ground, without counting online donations on the Telethon website or by telephone at 09 69 36 37 47 (non-premium rate call).
