The deputy of the 3e Mayenne constituency, Yannick Favennec (Liot), asks the Loire" rel="tag">Pays de la Loire region to engage more with associations, in a press release dated Tuesday November 26, 2024.
It reacts to the budget cuts planned by Christelle Morançais, president (Horizons) of the Pays de la Loire region, in the 2025 budget. She plans in particular to reduce thesubsidies to cultural and sports associations. The objective is to achieve 100 million euros in savings, or 60 million euros more than the amount requested by the government.
Yannick Favennec calls on the regional president for more consultation. He states: “Dialogue, consultation and respect for those on the ground, in particular volunteers and local elected officials, are essential for fair, balanced and forward-looking decisions. »
“A driving force for local initiatives”
Even if the Mayenne MP assures that he understands “the need for budgetary savings in the region”, he warns about “the method and the choices”.
He recalls that associative life “is an essential driver of local initiatives […]. The Au Foin de la rue festival, the Boucles de la Mayenne, Les Entrelacés, the Motocross d'Ernée, among other Mayenne associations, contribute to the attractiveness of our territory, to animation and social ties.
Monday November 25, 2024, between 3,000 and 4,000 cultural professionals demonstrated in front of the regional hotel, in Nantes (Loire-Atlantique), to react to the measures planned by Christelle Morançais.
