L3 MS in total immersion at Open 2024: volunteering, commitment and unique experience

From November 2 to 9, 2024, third-year Sports Management License (L3 MS) students swapped the classrooms for behind the scenes of the Moselle Openan emblematic tennis tournament taking place at the Arènes de . For eight intense days, our student volunteers worked on all fronts to contribute to the success of this large-scale sporting event, thus gaining valuable and concrete experience in event management.

The missions of L3 MS: a complete experience

For these young students, the Moselle Open was an opportunity to discover the diversity of tasks necessary for organizing a professional tournament. Divided into teams, they took on varied missions such as:

  • The ticket office : On the front line with the public, the students managed the entrance of the public and the orientation of spectators, an enriching experience in terms of customer relations.
  • Accreditation management : They took care of the printing and distribution of accreditations for the various players in the tournament: players, staff, media and sponsors, ensuring a smooth and rigorous process.
  • The parking lot and the shop : Some were assigned to the parking lot cash register, crucial logistical management for the organization, while others ensured the restocking of the official store, programs and daily newspapers.
  • The “voltigeurs” : Responsible for multiple versatile tasks, the “voltigeurs” notably contributed to filling in the scoreboard in real time and assisted in the coordination of the teams, the smooth running of the activities, and the logistics around the fields.

An educational and immersive experience

By immersing yourself in this professional atmosphere, alongside Charlotte Solarytournament office assistant, the students were able to put into practice their knowledge and skills in logistics, organization, flow management and customer relations. Charlotte, who took care of the students throughout the 8 days, guided them very well in carrying out their various tasks. Their ability to adapt and their versatility were put to the test, confronting them with last-minute unforeseen events and the demands of responsiveness. This experience also allowed them to develop a strong team spirit and acquire concrete skills, while building links with professionals in the field.

Results: a success on all levels

The students' feedback is unanimous: this week of volunteering at the Moselle Open proved to be an adventure that was both intense and rewarding. They emerge from this immersion enriched and with new skills that will be useful for their future careers in the world of sports events.

Thanks to their commitment and seriousness, the L3 MS contributed to the success of this edition of the Moselle Open, leaving a positive impression on the organizers. It is with pride that the Sports Management Degree has seen its students take up this challenge, proof that theory takes on its full meaning when in contact with the field.
