A benefit for all participants

Restorative justice is a system which aims to bring victims and perpetrators of the same type of offense into dialogue, with the help of a neutral and trained mediator, explains the website of the Ministry of Justice. This protocol aims to help victims rebuild their lives after trauma and to make the perpetrator responsible for their social reintegration. A program which begins, for both victims and voluntary convicts, with three individual interviews.

Then come five times of group discussions, with three or five victims and as many condemned people. Entirely optional, this device does not offer any reduction in sentence. France Victimes and SPIP will collect applications until the beginning of February 2025 for the first meetings planned before the end of the summer.
