Fight against violence against women: what is the situation in Savoie?

November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, highlights alarming figures for 2023 and 2024, recalling the need for lasting commitment beyond this symbolic date. With 271,000 victims recorded by security services in 2023and already 100 feminicides as of November 13, 2024the scale of the phenomenon is striking. In , a woman dies every three days at the hands of her spouse or ex-spouse.emphasizing the urgency of a concerted response.

The figures revealed in Savoie reveal a worrying reality. In 2023, 1,100 women victims of violence have been identified by the national police in the department, marking a 16% increase compared to the previous year. These data reflect a general increase in reports, particularly to local associations, who note a 40% increase in women in care.

Savoie relies on a solid partnership network to respond to this problem. Since 2016, a protocol for welcoming victims was signed between five major associations – La Sasson, SaVoie de femme, AVIJ, ADDCAES and CIDFF – in partnership with law enforcement and judicial institutions. This system guarantees comprehensive support, combining psychological support, legal guidance, and access to accommodation.

Sassonthe main emergency accommodation structure in the departmentmanages 11 places for women victims of violence and their childrenfour of which were opened in 2024.

The intercommunal social action center (CIAS) of the Coeur de Maurienne Arvan community of communes (3CMA) also manages a place in Saint-Jean-de Maurienne.
