This bridge used by 12,000 vehicles daily reopens to traffic in

Since April, heavy goods vehicles could no longer use it. The Langrane bridge, located in Saint-Pey-d'Armens in , will reopen to traffic Wednesday November 27, 2024 in the morning.

Located on the departmental road 670E5, linking to Saint-Pey-d'Armens, this bridge with a crossing of 2.30 meters supported up to 12,000 vehicles daily, including 600 heavy goods vehicles.

An urgent intervention

During the in-depth structural investigation of the bridge, “ structural damage » had been discovered on the work. They were linked to the quality of the original concrete and required urgent intervention.

“In order to guarantee the safety of users, a tonnage restriction at 3.5 tonnes had been immediately installed,” recalls the Gironde department. A diversion for heavy goods vehicles had been set up by the municipality of Vignonet, using the D670 and the D936.

The existing bridge was demolished on November 4, preventing any road passage, before the new structure was installed on November 12. However, recent weather conditions have delayed final operations coating.

A project in record time

Throughout the construction site, the Department has put in place security measures environmental protectionsuch as “fencing for small wildlife and waste filtration systems”.

The flow of the watercourse was maintained by pumping between the demolition and the construction of the new bridge, then the stream was quickly replenished with water.

“Although 7 months passed between the implementation of the traffic restriction and the end of the work, the construction site itself took place in one temps record of 4 months,” adds the department.

Departmental teams continuously monitor the bridges, which makes it possible to anticipate and plan the environmental studies necessary for any work. The department manages 1,770 bridges on its road network. The bill for the work on the Langrane bridge amounts to 150,000 euros.
