More fear than harm for middle school and high school students from Luzarches (Val-d’Oise). This Monday, November 25, 2024, around thirty students found themselves involved in an accident between two school bus buses on the Rd 922. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported. Nine lightly injured were, however, hospitalized.
The accident occurred around 5 p.m. After picking up the teenagers at the exit of the two establishments, the two buses took the RD 319 ramp to join the RD 922, towards Fontenay-en-Parisis. According to initial findings, the driver of the bus who was in front braked or slowed down surprising the driver of the vehicle who followed him. The latter has hit the rear of the vehicle.
Forty firefighters and three Samu medical teams mobilized
The Val-d'Oise Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis 95) deployed significant resources, with forty firefighters having been mobilized. With the assistance of three medical teams from Samu 95, they rescued the 32 students who were on the two buses as well as the drivers. To take care of all those involved, a reception center has been set up in the Luzarches village hall, by the Val-d'Oise prefecture with the assistance of Civil Security and Red Cross agents.
While twenty students were injured or shocked, eight adolescents, aged 13 to 17, who complained in particular of neck pain following the shock, were transported in relative urgency to the hospitals of Beaumont-sur-Oise and de Gonesse, in order to take exams. The others were able to return to their respective homes after being picked up by their parents. A ninth victim, the driver of the bus, was also hospitalized.
While an investigation has been opened and entrusted by the gendarmes, they must determine the exact circumstances of the accident and understand in particular the reason for this late braking.
