On the night of Saturday November 23 to Sunday November 24, 2024, the Senegalese police carried out a large-scale security operation within the perimeter of the Regional Public Security Service (SRSP) of Dakar. This initiative is part of efforts to ensure the peace of populations in the face of insecurity and deviant behavior.
Deployed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., the operation mobilized a workforce of 262 police officers and 42 security vehicles. Optimal coordination between the different police units enabled effective coverage of the perimeter concerned.
According to information collected, 312 individuals were arrested for various crimes and infractions: 153 people for identity checks, 67 individuals for obvious public drunkenness, 19 suspects for investigative purposes.

Road security has also been strengthened: 142 vehicle operating parts were seized, 7 vehicles impounded for various offenses. In addition, 18 bars were the subject of inspections as part of the control of nightlife establishments. This operation, by its scale and effectiveness, reflects the determination of the authorities to maintain security in the Senegalese capital. It also demonstrates a concerted effort to deter harmful behavior and build citizen trust in law enforcement.
Faced with urban security challenges, this type of operation is likely to be repeated. The authorities therefore intend to increase nighttime security actions to preserve the peace and security of the population. By strengthening their presence on the ground, law enforcement is sending a clear message: insecurity and illegal behavior will not be tolerated in Dakar.
