A clandestine gathering of electronic music lovers was held in the Bourse national forest (Orne) from Saturday November 23 to Sunday November 24, 2024. The authorities seized the equipment and fined the participants, while legal proceedings are in progress. course.


A nighttime party under close surveillance

According to 3, nearly 200 festival-goersfans of techno and electronic music, gathered completely illegally during the night from Saturday to Sunday, in the heart of the Bourse national forest. The principle of these clandestine “raves” is based on secrecywith often isolated places, in the countryside or in disused buildings.

Despite a prefectural decree taken on November 22 prohibiting any gathering of this type in Orne, as well as the transport of sound equipment intended for such events, the organizers maintained their project. The party lasted until 3 p.m. on Sunday, before the police intervened.


Multiple sanctions for participants

When leaving the premises, the festival-goers found on their way around fifty gendarmesmobilized to control and fine offenders.

  • 111 offenses were notedranging from non-compliance with the ban on movement in a classified wooded area (25 sanctions) to fines for disturbing public order.
  • A maximum fine of 1 500 euros may be inflicted for participating in this prohibited event.
  • The sound equipment, the keystone of the party, was seized.

A noisy and risky gathering

Faced with complaints from local residents, Sébastien Jalletprefect of Orne, denounced this illegal demonstration:

“I strongly condemn the organization of this gathering, held without authorization or security measures. It represents a risk for participants and generates serious nuisance for the neighborhood. »

Noise pollution was a particularly criticized point. Around ten complaints for disturbing the peace were registered with the gendarmerie, which had established an advanced post at the Ventes-de-Bourse town hall to handle grievances.


An open legal procedure

Under the authority of Laëtitia Mirandepublic prosecutor of Alençon, an investigation was launched to identify and prosecute the organizers of this clandestine event.

These gatherings are not a first in Orne. In 2023, two similar raves had already taken place in Saint-Brice-sous-Rânes et Saint-Clair-de-Halouzealso prompting the intervention of the authorities.


Prevention and repression

Local authorities, determined to fight against these illegal demonstrations, point out that these events present dangers, both for the participants and for the environment. The region's prefects could strengthen controls in the future to avoid new similar incidents.
