the essential
They will stop at nothing to put pressure on the government and defend their agricultural sectors. This morning, in the Lot, the Rural Coordination took matters in hand.

This morning, it was the rural coordination of Lot which took action in the department. The first tractor arrived around 9:45 a.m., following the call for mobilization launched during the weekend by the agricultural union. Then, other machines followed, all of which took place on the roundabout near the Cahors-Sud toll station on the A20.

Around 10:15 a.m., there were four tractors parked in the center of the roundabout, clearly visible, for around thirty farmers present… Which aroused some support, with loud honking, from other road users passing by there.

Around 10 a.m., around thirty farmers were mobilized.

If for the moment, everything remains fairly calm, each other is discreetly organizing themselves, to take action shortly. A few days ago, the president of the second agricultural union in , Véronique Le Floc'h, warned: “Our actions are getting tougher because it is a question of survival, because, precisely, we want a future for our young people “. At the heart of the anger of the agricultural world which is entering its second week of mobilization, several demands. And in particular, in their sights, the free trade treaty that the European Union is negotiating with Latin American countries of Mercosur.

The farmers of the rural coordination had arranged to meet this Monday, at 9:30 a.m.

But not only that… “My objective is to have concrete things for the Lot and its farmers” says Laurent Porte, president of the Lot Rural Coordination and cow breeder in Figeacois.

Tax relief on undeveloped land and reduced rate loans

The first big demand: relief for undeveloped land. “We are asking for 100% on cereals and livestock. We have been suffering for 40 years. This would give the cash flow a breathing space. Locally, we want to reduce the costs on farms.”
They want loans at 1% (compared to 3.5% currently) for everyone; but also a reduction in MSA (agricultural social mutuality) charges depending on income and difficulties.
Meetings with the MSA, Crédit Agricole and the prefect of the lot will be requested.

In the meantime, there is no question of remaining idle, the Lotois of Rural Coordination have decided to stop the food transport trucks, in order to control the origin of their freight. The operation kicked off shortly before 11 a.m. A convoy from Tarn et Garonne is expected on site.
