Marie Aubert is originally from Gironde. She trained at the Institute of Political Sciences in Bordeaux before joining the ENA. Before her position in Metz, she was delegated prefect for equal opportunities in Bouches-du-Rhône and even sub-prefect of Le Havre. Marie Aubert also worked in Béarn and she was also, between 2012 and 2014, chief of staff of the Minister of Culture in Paris.
Marie Aubert succeeds Jean-Sébastien Lamontagne, who was appointed interministerial departmental director. He becomes vice-president of the higher council for territorial support and evaluation.
