The Confederation wants to act against gender-related violence in three areas: the fight against the causes, continuing education and protection against sexualized violence.

Federal Councilor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider presented an interim report on Monday. This analyzes the measures of the national action plan for the implementation of the Istanbul Convention 2022-2026.

The measures are on track. The Confederation, cantons and municipalities have defined three areas in which it is particularly necessary to act. “Substantial progress must be made there by 2026”.

First of all, it is about fighting against the causes of violence against women, often due to gender stereotypes. Next, health professionals and judicial authorities must be better trained. The third theme is increased awareness of protection from sexualized violence.
