From to the banks of the Lot: they transformed Madame de Bias' mill mansion into guest rooms

the essential
Céline and Philippe Carbon left the Côte d'Azur to settle in Villeneuvois and open guest rooms in this characterful villa, built between 1860 and 1870.

Like the avenue du Colonel Robinet by which it is accessed, the road to the Moulin de Madame, which appears on the old documents of what was then the parish of Bias, is a dead end road bordering between the communes of Villeneuve and Bias . A quiet path sought after by walkers often accompanied by their beloved canines.

It is at number 722 that the eye is drawn to the Villeneuvois side by a sign recently affixed to an iron gate “Bed and Breakfast of the Manor of the Moulin de Madame”. And to see a large wooded park where a dwelling house with character sits. A place steeped in history, as the Carbon couple explained to us, Céline, 57 years old, web designer, and Philippe, 49 years old, IT project manager, owners since 2023. “Until then we lived in where we led a hectic life. We wanted a change of scenery and calm. On vacation, we had the opportunity to be accommodated in guest rooms. We liked this type of accommodation. So why not also open this type of tourist reception which we can take care of alongside our professional activity? »

Up to ten people in three spacious bedrooms

A quest for the dream site allows them to very quickly find their happiness in Villeneuve on the left bank of the Lot. Deal done. “We were seduced by this enchanting place in the middle of nature of some three hectares which owes its name to the mill built around 1250, of which only the walls remain today, partly hidden by the luxuriant vegetation of the banks of the river”, comment the new rural people.

This little corner of paradise houses an old building and its outbuildings to which a character villa was added between 1860 and 1870 where the owners live on the ground floor who, since May 2024, can accommodate up to up to ten people in three spacious bedrooms combining old-world charm and modern comfort. In a green setting lulled by the song of birds, the 12 x 6 meter swimming pool is a delight for families from various backgrounds in the summer, who can enjoy their homemade breakfast and free meals nearby. In bad weather, this possibility is offered in the kitchen and dining room of the owners' accommodation. Reservations have been recorded for these Christmas holidays.

As the poet says: “Nature is there which invites you and which loves you”. Madame’s mill manor, an appointment not to be missed.
