A young passenger on a motorcycle killed during an urban rodeo in Bassens

Two cross bikes collided on Sunday on the right bank of Bordeaux. In the same place, a young 22-year-old motorcyclist lost his life last summer.

A young 18-year-old woman, a passenger on a motorcycle, died Sunday evening during an urban rodeo in Bassens (Gironde), on the right bank of Bordeaux, France Bleu Gironde learned Monday, November 25 from the mayor and firefighters of the department.

The accident occurred around 6:10 p.m. The young woman was a passenger on one of the two cross bikes which collided. According to the first elements of the investigation, she was not wearing a helmet. She was killed instantly. Two 19-year-olds were also seriously injured. They were transported in absolute emergency to the CHU Pellegrin, in Bordeaux.

Part of the young woman's family, shocked, was taken care of by the firefighters. “It’s dramatic”reacted the mayor of Bassens Alexandre Rubio. “At the weekend, young people come to die in Bassens, and I can’t bring myself to do it”he adds. In the same place, a young 22-year-old motorcyclist already died last August.

The elected official says that urban rodeos in his town are frequent. Of the “young people doing wheelies”on this industrial boulevard, near the port. “This phenomenon has been poisoning the lives of residents of the town for monthshe continues. Everyone is informed of the subject, all the authorities, the police forces. And we can't solve the problem. We can't see the end of it.”deplores the city councilor.
